Online Shop
Product pages, shopping cart, and Stripe payments. For businesses that want to sell online — a farm shop, a local maker, a gift company, or anything else.
Online shops are the most complex type of site I build. I won't take one on unless I'm confident it's the right approach for your business. Let's talk first.
What You Get
A working online shop. Built with Next.js on the frontend, Stripe for payments, and a database for products and orders.
Product pages
Images, descriptions, prices, variants. Customers browse and add to cart.
Shopping cart
Visitors add items, adjust quantities, see totals. Works on phones.
Stripe checkout
Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay. PCI-compliant — Stripe handles the sensitive stuff, not your site.
Order confirmation
Automatic email to you and the customer when an order comes through.
Product management
An admin area where you add and edit products, update prices, and mark stock levels.
Mobile checkout
The whole purchase flow works on a phone — most local customers will shop this way.
How It Works
It's not Shopify. It's not WooCommerce. It's a custom-built shop that does exactly what you need and nothing you don't — no monthly platform fees, no template restrictions.
- Frontend—Next.js + Tailwind — fast, responsive, no page builder bloat
- Payments—Stripe — industry standard, handles PCI compliance
- Database—PostgreSQL — stores products, orders, customer details
- Hosting—Cloud-hosted — scaled to your traffic, typically £10–£25/month
Questions
Can I see an example?
Yes — check out the Widgetly demo on the homepage. It's a fully working online shop with product pages, shopping cart, and checkout. Online shops are more involved than brochure sites, so let's talk about whether it's the right fit for your business.
What payment methods do you support?
Stripe handles cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. PayPal can be added. You'll need a free Stripe account.
Can I manage products myself?
Yes — you'll get an admin dashboard to add products, update prices and stock, and view orders.
What about shipping?
Flat-rate shipping or free shipping over a certain amount. Real-time courier rates are possible but add complexity.
What does it cost to run?
Hosting typically runs £10–£25/month depending on traffic and database size, plus Stripe takes a small percentage per sale (around 1.5–2.9%).
